Description
"Lift-off from Camelot"
Apollo 17: Original Ken Lewis Hand-Painted LM Illustration Signed by Mission Commander Gene Cernan. (AV Corp, Houston, Texas, circa 1970). This stunning 13" x 17.5" (sight size) image of the lunar module taking off from the moon is matted in a double-ply archival mat and elegantly framed under UV acrylic to an overall 20.5" x 26.5". Cernan has boldly signed in silver at upper left: "Lift-Off From Camelot/ Gene Cernan/ Apollo XVII CDR"; the signature alone is almost 6" in length. Cernan has often referred to his stay on the lunar surface as his Camelot. Also, there is a crater near Apollo 17's landing site by that name; Cernan and Schmitt visited there on EVA and took rock samples. A unique original painting and desirable signature. Excellent condition.Auction Info
