Spanish-American War: Large Group of California Named Infantry and Artillery Corps Badges, Medals and Insignia.Includes: 1) 8th Corps, Battery D, 1st Battalion headquarters badge engraved on the reverse "WILL. H. GREY / SERGT." Maker marked Shreve. Accompanying the badge is a red-enamel Artillery Corps badge, Artillery pinback hat insignia and Battery A, 1st Battalion collar insignia. Grey was one of about 300 men in Battery A and D who served in the Philippines. 2) California Spanish-American War service medal engraved to L. F. Rostler. The medal is suspended from a pinback hanger in the form of a D Battery, 1st Battalion Corps badge. 3) 8th Corps red/white/blue enamel badge engraved on the reverse "R. M. Galbreth". Maker marked Shreve. Suspended by a pinback hanger engraved "7th Cal. INFTY. USV." 4) 8th Corps red/white/blue enamel badge engraved on the reverse "Vincent P. Devlin / Battery A. 1st Bat. / Heavy Artillery / U.S.V." Accompanied by a 1st Battalion Artillery pinback insignia. 5) California Spanish-American War service medal engraved: "Lieut. J. F. Lucey / 1st Bat. H.A. / CAL. U.S.V." The medal is suspended from a pinback hanger in the form of a D Battery, 1st Battalion Corps badge.
