Description

The Gun That Never Was......

Rare Salesman's Sample by Fabrica Nacional De Armas, Mexico 1938.

7 7/8-inches overall barrel marked FABRICA NACIONAL DE ARMAS / MEXICO D.F. / 1938. Steel based marked AL. C. DIRECTOR DE LA FABRICA NACIONAL DE ARMAS / CORONEL CONRADO L. RUIZ / EN SU ONOMASTICO / NOVIEMBRE. 28-30 / RESPETUOSAMENTE AGUSTIN PEREZ. MODELO CONRADA L. RUIZ. Please note: The 1938 date is important because the proposed rifle would never have been manufactured. The Germans captured Belgium, including the intact FN factory, in 1940. This item was made specifically as a salesman's sample and shows FN was trying to sell Mexico on the idea of a new rifle called the "Colonel Ruiz" Mauser. We suspect there were a number of full size test rifles made too but this little gizmo would have sat on Col. Ruiz' desk in Mexico City at the time.

Condition: Very good to fine as configured, light touch ups. Well made example. Bore is excellent. One of the screws on the stand is somewhat loose. Markings crisp. Aftermarket sharpie numbers underneath based.
