U.S. Springfield Model 1878 Trapdoor Rifle with Bayonet.

Serial no. 349250, .45-70 caliber, 32 1/2-inch barrel with front fixed sight and adjustable folding rear sight. Blued nd case-hardened finish. V / P / (eagle head) / P and A stamped to top of barrel. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGDFIELD. Smooth walnut straight stock with sling swivels and stacking swivel. Two barrel bands, each stamped: U. Metal ramrod, triggerguard and carbine buttplate. 18-inch US socket bayonet.

Condition: Fine. Retaining approximately 70-80% finish with a few spots of thinning, handling wear and very fine patches of pitting. Few scattered scuffs and dings present to wood. Action crisp. Action crisp. Mirror bright bore. From the Sylver Schaller Collection.
