Introduced in 1873 by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, this rifle was a refinement of the earlier Henry and Winchester Model 1866 rifles. It quickly became a favorite among frontiersmen, settlers, and lawmen, solidifying its place in the lore of the American West.
