Description

Austrian Model 1905 Dragoon Officers' Helmet. Black enameled metal body with brass trim and high stamped-brass comb with a vignette of a lion in combat with a snake embossed on each side. Brass Austrian double-headed eagle front plate mounted to the helmet with threaded posts, washers and retaining nuts. Brass lion's head chinscale bosses and leather-backed, brass oak-leaf pattern chinscales. 2 ½-inch leather sweatband and maroon silk head lining.

Condition: Very good. Light and occasional surface cracking to the exterior black paint; a few trivial and very shallow dents on the top of the comb; small area of loss to the leather liner. From the collection of J. T. Hamrick, M.D.
