Civil War Burnside Single Shot Saddle Ring Carbine.

Serial no. 34597 [receiver and action], .54 caliber, 21-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued finish. Saddle ring. Lever action, featuring a hinged section of the breech block. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Sling swivel. Metal buttplate. Together with photocopy of Civil War Weapons Search stating this Burnside Carbine #34597 was a "Range Match" to Civil War Regiments; 6th Indiana Vol. Cavalry / April 1865 and 4th Wisconsin Vol. Cavalry / Aug. 1864. According to their records definition, "a Range Match indicates that the weapon's serial number is within the serial number range of identical weapons issued to the CW Regiment (s) listed. Therefore, a probability exits that the piece was issued to a soldier in the regiment (s) listed". Also included is printed material regarding the 6th Indiana and 4th Wisconsin regiments.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Heavy dings, scuffs and bruising present to wood. Action crisp. Bright bore.
