Description

Colt Single Action Army Revolver.

Serial no. 146246 [frame, triggerguard and butt], 45 COLT, 7 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Nickel-plated finish. Colt Hartford address to top of barrel. Two-line, three-date patent and Rampant Colt to left side of frame. Checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt ovals. Manufactured in 1892. The Colt Single Action Army revolver was praised for its durability and simplicity. The single-action mechanism required the shooter to manually cock the hammer before each shot, making it slower than double-action revolvers. However, the single-action design was highly reliable and easier to maintain, which made it ideal for rugged frontier use.

Condition: Very good as refinished. Retaining approximately 75-85% finish with noticeable signs of handling wear, age and pitting. Appears to have depression dents on barrel near ejector pin, which is a crude replacement. Grips ok, later replacements. Action ok, lightly pitted bore. Tom Mixon Collection
