Colt 1871-72 Open Top Conversion Single Action Revolver.

Serial no. 164331 [barrel, frame, triggerguard and butt] and 4331 [cylinder], .44 caliber, 8-inch barrel with fixed front sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. COLTS / PATENT to left side of frame. Brass triggerguard marked: .44 CAL. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. The Colt Open Top (also known as the Colt Model 1871-72 Open Top) is a transitional revolver made by Colt in the early 1870s. It was among the first Colt revolvers designed to use metallic cartridges rather than percussion (cap-and-ball) cylinders or conversions.

Condition: Very good as cleaned. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with handling wear, age and fine patches of pitting. Scuffs and dings present to wood, some loss to corners. Action crisp. Moderately pitted bore. Barrel address very faint. Aftermarket loading gate. Tom Mixon Collection
