Engraved Colt Combat Commander Semi-Auto Pistol Belonging to Texas Ranger Bob Steele.

Serial no. 70SC55132, .45 caliber, 4 1/2-inch barrel. Left side of frame reads COLT / COMBAT COMMANDER / AUTOMATIC CALIBER .45, right side reads COLT'S COMBAT COMMANDER. "RLS ENG" engraved near the trigger. Top of slide engraved in cursive BOB STEELE / TEXAS RANGER [star] / CO. D. Full coverage engraved nickel-plated finish with hardwood grips with oval letter inlad in old script, "R" on right side and "S" on left for Robert Steele. R.W. "Bob" Steele was in Ranger Service from 1980-1993. According to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame; "Steele joined the Texas DPS in 1970, working in the Narcotics Division. In 1980 he was promoted to the Texas Rangers, stationed in Co. D in San Antonio. He attained the rank of Sergeant, and retired from the Rangers in 1993."

Note: Gun previously sold at Burleys Auction Gallery in New Braunfels, Texas in 2016. Burley Auction Group wrote then, "this gun was a duty carried pistol that was acquired by the seller, directly from Texas Ranger Bob Steele."

Condition: Fine to excellent as refinished at time of engraving. Showing minimal wear. Action good, bore good. Bottom of magazine marked COLT / 45 AUTO.
