Winchester First Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle.

Serial no. 28482, .44-40 caliber, 24 1/4-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Blued and case-hardened finish.
Thumbprint dust cover. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Sling swivels. Crescent metal buttplate with cleaning rod reservoir. Manufactured in 1879.

Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a brownish grey patina with noticeable areas of handling wear, age and pitting. Scattered scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bore. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
