Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter.

Serial no. 45812 [frame, triggerguard and butt, 5812 with some over-stamping on cylinder], .45 caliber, 4 3/4-inch barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Top of barrel address reads COLT'S P.T. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT U.S.A. Currently a nickel-plated finish. Three-line, three-date patent. Wood grips carved with a TEP or JEP / 18 on left grip along with some notches to both sides. Manufactured in 1878. Together with factory letter from Colt confirming configuration except barrel length and type of stocks "Not Listed" and being shipped "blue". Gun shipped to Spies Kissam & Company, New York, New York on September 12, 1878 in a shipment of 20.

Condition: Very good as reconfigured, refinished and cleaned. Barrel appears to have been cut down as well. Current finish with numerous scattered patches of pitting, barrel with added plating. Replaced front sight. Marred screws. Wood grips with scuffs, alterations and wear. Action functions, faint timing issue. Lightly pitted bore.
