A Clip Point Bowie Knife by G. Woodhead.

11 1/2-inches overall. Having a 7 1/2-inch clip point blade marked G. WOODHEAD / 36 HOWARD STREET / SHEFFIELD. With reclining lion [rarer than alligator] coffin shape pommel, Mother of Pearl scales with German silver escutcheon. Contained in original German silver mounted leather scabbard. 19th century. Please note: George Woodhead was in business from the late 1840's until 1875; 36 Howard Street in Sheffield, after that period, it became George Woodhead & Sons.

Condition: Good as configured. Blade showing a mottled patina. Blade appears to have been sharpened/cleaned. Nice toning to MOP. Scabbard, dried with some warping present and minor holes. Collection of a Southern Gentleman
