Description
A Hall & Colley Sheffield Bowie Knife.Having a 9 1/4-inch clip-point blade. Blade marked: (IA)M FOR USE, along with multiple game and hunting scenes. Ricasso stamped: V (crown) R / HALL & COLLEY / SHEFFIELD. German silver blade guard with stepped design and end cap. Rosewood round grip. 14-inches in overall length.
Please note: Hall & Colley was first listed around 1845 as a merchant and manufacturer of scissors, razors, and table knives in Eyre Lane; it also made bowie knives.
Condition: Good. Overall showing handling wear and some patches of pitting. Large crack through wood. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
