A Clip Point Knife by Schively, Philadelphia.

15 3/4-inches overall [out of scabbard]. 10 1/4-inch straight back blade with almost a 5-inch sharpened false edge mainly from one side. Ricasso marked H. SCHIVELY / PHILAD. One piece checkered ivory handle with nickel silver pommel, ferrule, four pins [on each side], washers and S-guard. Contained in leather sheath with incised decorations and nickel silver throat and tip. Circa 1832-1837.

This knife was described and sold through Morphy's Auction in 2010 (James Julia Auctions) as lot 899; "Improved Pattern Bowie Knife by Schively, Philadelphia". It had a different scabbard back then in 2010.

Condition: Very good. Blade with an overall patina and pitting marks. Blade has been cleaned, light surface rust present. Tip/point a bit rounded. A few small nicks to edge. Right handle with "U" shape crack and darkening, obverse very good. Replacement scabbard good with moderate wear, mounts are lose [missing support pins]. Leather with scuffs present. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
