Tanegashima Japanese Matchlock Pistol.Of typical form, full etched-stamped Yatsumune-style 7 3/4-inch barrel with silver and brass elements depicting a dragon with front and semi-rear sights, ending in an alternating semi-flared muzzle. Kanji characters also present near breech [in etched form]. Smooth lacquered hardwood stock and forearm inlaid with elegant brass plum-blossom shapes; simple lock brass mechanism, overall with a distinct wood-and-metal craftsmanship. 7-inch ramrod present. Overall length is 13-inches.
Condition: Fine. Finish primarily a mellow patina overall with minor handling wear. Fine marks to barrel edges. Fine scratches, loss of lacquer overall, along with some stress cracks although stable. Action ok, bore dark.
