Turkish Kilij Sword, 19th Century.

Approximately 35-inches in overall length with a 30 1/2-inch slightly curved wide blade and 'T' spine. Large inscription on both sides of blade, including peacock figures. Curved crossguard with fluted cap finials with engraved pattern. Massive two-piece horn grip, crudely engraved spine. Contained embossed leather scabbard and silver-mounted in stages with decorative engravings and sling swivels. Raised star and crescent present near sling swivel; the star and crescent is an iconographic used in various historical contexts. The Kilij is the traditional saber of the Ottomans

Condition: Scattered wear and pitting present, overall in good condition. Scabbard dry with wear and shrinkage to leather, pitting, wear to mounts and patina. Lower scabbard mount, a replacement.
