Description
Interesting Primitive Knife.Approximately 9 1/2- inch steel blade. Swelled design with multiple angles. Intricate Carved Wood handle with a highlighted detailed rose design one one side. A tribal pattern also adorns the handle. Almost a brass squared guard. Wooden scabbard with a somewhat triangular design wrapped in string with a painted green design with Oceanic flair. Overall length is 14-inches. Note: This item is lot number 1599 on the Invoice from International Studio Art Division, The Hearst Corp. of which a photocopy is included in the sale. According to consignor and paperwork provided, this item was obtained by Shirley Temple Black from the Hearst warehouse in 1963 to complement her decorating and collecting habits. In the form, the item states, "Knife in case, steel blade, carved wood handle, cap and shield of brass. L.14".

Condition: Fair to good with moderate to heavy patches of pitting to blade. Wooden handle in excellent shape. Brass parts with light verdigris and wear. Scabbard in fair shape with scuffs and wear, string a bit loose mostly concentrating on the widest part.
