Description

Winfield Scott Hancock: Rare Rooster Rebus Items. These items were issued to promote Democrat Winfield Scott Hancock in 1880. The first is a silvered brass shell hat badge, 2 ΒΌ" square, depicting a rooster wearing a sword. The second is an unlisted white metal token, 30 mm. in diameter. One side has a semi-circle of stars, a hand pointing to a rooster (i.e., Hand-Cock, or Hancock) and the words "And English". The other side has a Good Luck horseshoe inscribed "The Peoples Choice". Condition is excellent on both. The token should attract strong competition among collectors of 19th century material.
