Description
McKinley Family Photographs. A total of 27 photographs mounted on the recto and verso of three scrapbook pages. Of most note is a chest-up carte de visite image of young William McKinley, this must be a very scarce image as it is the first time we have ever seen it. Another image of interest is an unusual jugate of McKinley and Garret Hobart with gold coins behind their heads placed to simulate halos. The group also contains two signed photographs of Mabel McKinley, both inscribed to cousin Carrie Hagey Endsley; a cabinet card photo of a young McKinley standing; a round albumen of McKinley in profile; and a cabinet sized albumen of McKinley in his older years. Images of Ida, McKinley's mother, and other young members of the family round out this charming group. Heavy wear to pages, with varying condition to images; however scarcity and personal nature of presentation make this a must have for a collector of presidential images.Auction Info
