More Information:

Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840), the Belgian painter and botanist, is the most widely-known of all the flower painters. Redouté perfected the stipple engraving technique and employed it in his more than 2,100 published plates depicting over 1,800 species, many of which had never before been rendered. As the official court artist of Queen Marie Antoinette, and later under the patronage of the Empress Josephine, Redouté's career flourished, and his works reached a large and prosperous audience. Redouté's most popular and highly-praised works were those collected in Les Roses and Les Liliacées, many of which we are proud to present here.
