With nineteen plates inserted throughout. An important and handsome biography of Erasmus.

Octavo. [8], [xxxii], 386, [clvii] pages. With nineteen plates (some folding, some mounted at a later date), inserted throughout (although the List of Cuts calls for only sixteen, it is common for the three extra plates to be present). Contemporary full brown calf, boards, double-ruled in gilt, gilt floral rule with gilt floral cornerpieces, spine ruled in and lettered in gilt and tooled in blind, five raised double-bands, gilt board edges and turn-ins, gauffered edges. Rebacked preserving the original spine, new endleaves, some text leaves and plates apparently washed, a few plates with tears or chips. Still, a good copy.
