Garth Williams. Ink studies of Wilbur, Charlotte's Web.Garth Williams. Original preliminary drawings for Charlotte's Web, 1952: studies of Wilbur. Ink on paper. Two drawings on one sheet measuring 10.875 x 8.5 inches. Signed in full by Williams at lower right. A couple of shallow creases at lower left corner. Fine.
Two ink sketches of Wilbur. One appears to be, perhaps, an early study of illustration #17 which appears on page 59 (Wilbur jumps in the air, attempting to spin a web), and the other is clearly a preliminary version of illustration #11 which appears on page 31 (a lonely Wilbur cries). From the Estate of Garth Williams.
