Description

Abraham Lincoln: Colorful Oversized Porcelain Cup & Saucer.
Matching cup (4") and saucer (6 5/8") likely made in France for export to the American market. Both have burgundy fields with gilt highlights. The cup features an oval transfer portrait of Lincoln based on the Brady $5 bill portrait. There is a small area of touch-up or restoration to the top edge of the cup on the left side. It is difficult to pinpoint a date of manufacture, but we estimate somewhere in the 1864 to 1865 period.
