Description

Inscribed by Andy Warhol with an Original Drawing of a Campbell Soup Can and Additionally Initialed by Him

Andy Warhol. THE Philosophy of Andy Warhol (From A to B and Back Again). New York: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, [1975]. First edition. Presentation copy, inscribed by Warhol in blue ball-point pen on the half-title ("to Charlie and/Richey and Jay") with a drawing of the iconic Campbell Soup can in blue ball-point pen and signed beneath by Warhol. Additionally initialed by Warhol vertically in black marker on the same page. Octavo. [xiv], 241, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's orange cloth backstrip over yellow paper boards, spine lettered in black and white, dust jacket. Jacket somewhat worn with a few short creased tears, some rubbing and mild soiling to binding. Very good. With the orignal cash register receipt from the Museum Shop of the Baltimore Museum of Art taped to the front pastedown. Laid-in is a contemporary newspaper clipping from The Sun describing the bizarre book signing at the Baltimore Museum of Art in 1975, where this book was presumably signed by Warhol.
