[i] -xiv, [xv-xvi, "Directions to the Binder / Errata" leaf], [1]-609, [610, blank], pages. Includes the half-title leaf. With forty-one inserted plates, including the seven Seymour plates, and the remaining plates by "Phiz." The plates called-for at pages 132 and 382 are bound facing pages 130 and 381, respectively. No wrappers or ads. Nineteenth century three-quarter brown leather over marbled paper boards with gilt spine titles on a black morocco label and gilt embellishments in compartments inside five raised bands. Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. Moderate abrading to the binding leather. Uneven foxing to the text and plates. Two bookplates to the front endpapers. Very good. Gimbel A15. Hatton and Cleaver, pp. 3-88. [and:] Plate volume. Separately bound in gorgeous brown morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, and containing five separate sets of illustration for The Pickwick Papers, as follows: Heath (uncolored), Onwhyn (colored), two by Pailthorpe (one colored, one uncolored), and one mixed set by various artists (uncolored).
