First edition. Inscribed by the editor, D. Justo Zaragoza on the half-title page. Octavo. 525, [8] index pages. Three folding maps as called for, bound in back.

Contemporary quarter binding with marbled boards and leather backstrip, with titles stamped in gilt in compartments between four raised bands. Marbled endpapers. All edges stained red. Binding worn at the corners and spine ends. Front hinge cracked but the binding is solid and sound. Former owner's name on preliminary page; small library stamp on the title page. Small tear on third map. Pages ever-so-slightly toned, else a very good copy.

A study of English and European piracy in Spanish America in the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries. Zaragoza edits a collection of Alsedo y Herrera 's writings which originally appeared in the eighteenth century.
