Zane Grey. Tales of Fresh-Water Fishing. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1928. Deluxe leather-bound first edition, one of only a few copies issued by Harper for Grey's exclusive use and never offered for sale. Boldly signed by Grey in his signature purple ink on a front blank, and with his library blind-stamp to the preceding blank. Quarto. With 100 black-and-white illustrations from photographs by Grey. Publisher's three-quarter gilt-stamped dark green morocco over green cloth, with gilt spine titles and decorative stamping inside five raised bands. Green and gilt marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Uncut and partially unopened. Housed in a custom green leather clamshell box by the Heritage Bindery. Light rubbing to the edges and corners. Small nicks near the bottom edge of both covers. Very clean internally. Overall, a fine copy. From a private collection in North Carolina.
