First edition. Octavo. [5]-480 pages. With three maps in text: "Map of Peninsula," "Siege of Yorktown," "Vicinity of Richmond," and one folding map used as the frontispiece, "Map of the Battle of Antietam."

Attractive recent full leather binding with publisher's blind-stamped cloth laid down on the boards. New endpapers and pastedowns. Text block edges sanded when rebound. Moderate foxing to preliminary and terminal pages, with some trivial light foxing scattered elsewhere; otherwise, pages are clean and bright. A handsome copy, fine in its new binding.
