Description
[Ferdinand VII of Spain] Document with Stamped Signature, "Yo el Rey", written on three of the four integral pages, 8.5" x 12", partially printed, n.p., March 11, 1819, in Spanish. The first page has the Spanish Royal Arms printed at the top. The document commends church officials in Nuevo Reyno de León (which included lands to the north) for their loyalty and financial support for the Spanish Crown during the war between France and England. The King promised that they would be treated as gentlemen as a reward. The King's promise was short-lived. Spain recognized Mexico's independence in the Treaty of Córdoba, a mere two years after this document was issued. Usual folds, else fine.Auction Info
