More Information:

The Outlook, edited by Lyman Abbott and known as the Christian Union prior to 1893, was a periodical devoted to liberal theology and social reform. Roosevelt, a passionate and prolific writer, served as an editor of the Outlook after his presidency. As a regular contributor to the magazine which shared much of his moral and political philosophy, he wrote an early form of his autobiography specifically for the magazine. In this letter, Roosevelt writes in part: "I have received the beautiful twelve volumes of the Oriental Series. I am sure I shall find them interesting and I greatly appreciate your sending them."
