U.S. Army Generals John J. Pershing and Leonard Wood Typed Letters Signed. Including: John J. Pershing Typed Letter Signed "John J. Pershing." One page 6.75" x 8.75", on American Expeditionary Forces letterhead, France, October 16, 1918, to Mr. Richard Oulahan, New York Times Washington Bureau, with the original transmittal envelope. "Black Jack" Pershing offers his apologizes for not being able to meet American journalists who visited the Western Front. Fine. [and:] Leonard Wood Typed Letter Signed "Leonard Wood." One page, 8" x 10.5", Washington, D.C., July 22, 1902, to Mr. Allen H. Write, Rome, New York. Brigadier General Wood gives his opinion of establishing an American newspaper in Cuba. Affixed to the letter is a contemporary illustration of Wood, as well as a typescript clipping. With the usual folds, else fine.
