Nixon resigns from his lawfirm upon receiving the 1968 Republican nomination for President

Richard Nixon Typed Letter Signed "Richard Nixon." One page on his personal imprinted letterhead, 7.25" x 10.5", August 8, 1968. Writing to the partners of Nixon, Mudge, Rose, Guthrie, Alexander, and Mitchell, Nixon announces his resignation from the law firm immediately following his nomination for the Presidency of the United States by the Republican Party. In part: "In view of my nomination last night by the Republican Party as its candidate for the Presidency of the United States, we have agreed that my active participation in the firm shall cease as of August 7, 1968. Henceforth, my status shall be solely "of Counsel" and I shall not participate further in the conduct of the firm's practice nor participate in any fees received by the firm for services performed subsequent to such date." With smoothed folds and stamped "Received / Sep - 4 1968" in red ink on recto.
