[Revolutionary War] and [Treaty of Paris]. The Connecticut Journal Newspaper. No. 841. Four integral pages, 9.25" x 14", New Haven, December 10, 1783. The front page contains a full reprinting of the Treaty of Paris which ended the Revolutionary War. Also included are want ads on pages three and four. Ink name on the right margin, ink has bled to page two. Uneven edges with light, overall toning; dampstaining on the top edge at the vertical fold. Else fine.

Containing ten key articles, the treaty acknowledges the "United States...to be free, sovereign, and independent States," establishes the boundary between the United States and the rest of British North America, establishes fishing rights to Americans "on the Grand Bank, and on all the other Banks of Newfoundland, also in the Gulph of St. Lawrence," "creditors on either side shall meet with no lawful impediment to the recovery of the full value" of their debt, state legislatures will "provide for the restitution of all estates, rights, and properties, which have been confiscated, belong to real British subjects [Loyalists]," "That there shall be no future confiscations [of property against Loyalists] made," that there shall be between Great Britain and the United States "a firm and perpetual peace...wherefore all hostilities both by sea and land shall from henceforth cease; all prisoners on both sides shall be set at liberty," that "the navigation of the River Mississippi...shall forever remain free and open to the subjects of Great-Britain, and the citizens of the United States," territory conquered by either nations "before the arrival of the said provisional articles in America...shall be removed without difficulty, and without requiring any compensation," and "The solemn ratifications of the present treaty...shall be exchanged between the contracting parties in the space of six months."
