Description

Jefferson Davis Letter Signed as secretary of war. One page, 8" x 9.75", Washington, December 24, 1855, to New Hampshire Governor Ralph Metcalf. He writes, in full: "I have the honor to inform you that I have caused One hundred and fifteen copies of the system of Tactics recently adopted for Light Infantry and Riflemen to be forwarded to your address, for distribution to the Militia of New Hampshire in such manner as you may deem advisable." Staining along the left edge from previous binding; light toning.
