[Revolutionary War]. General William Howe Signed Royal Pardon. One page, 14" x 10.5", February 1, 1777. A partially printed pardon for "Thomas Smith, late Private in Sands's Corps, of Long Island, in the Province of New York" by "George the Third. . . out of the Zeal and Affection which we have and bear to our subjects" absolving Smith of "all and singular Treasons. . .Rebellions, Insurrections, and Conspiracies, against US, our Crown and Dignity." With seal in upper left corner recto. With smoothed folds, some resulting in separation, one repaired with tape on verso. Some toning and foxing.
