Description

Patrick Henry Militia Appointment Signed "P. Henry" as governor of Virginia. One partially-printed page, 8" x 6.5", Richmond, May 21, 1785, countersigned by Thomas Meriwether. Less than two years after the Revolutionary War ended, American patriot and Virginia governor Patrick Henry signed this militia appointment appointing David M. Randolph "Captain of the 4th Company, in the [blank] Regiment of Militia of the County of Chesterfield." With paper seal in lower left corner and docketing on verso. Separation exists along some folds. Henry's signature is bold.
