Description
U.S. Springfield Krag Model 1896 Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial no. 58961, .30 caliber, 22-inch round barrel with standard military sights marked to 2,000 yards. Right side and top of rear sight correctly marked with letter C confirming original carbine sight. Left side of receiver marked: U.S./ MODEL 1896. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY. 58961. Oil-finished, finger-groove walnut stock with inspector's P behind triggerguard. Flat steel buttplate with storage compartment. Condition: Very good as possibly refinished. Barrel showing fine pitting below finish and tool marks on both sides near breech. Receiver now a smooth gray patina. Wood is good with hairline crack at left side of forearm and hole on right side.
