Description

Winchester Third Model Model 1866 Level Action Musket. Serial no. 78844, .44 caliber, 27-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued finish. Brass receiver. Straight-grained oil-finished walnut stock and fore-end with musket-style configuration, three barrel band and one sling swivel. Brass buttplate with cleaning rod reservoir. No cleaning rod present. Manufactured in 1871.

Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of original finish, the finish a grey age patina with scattered wear and fine to moderate patches of pitting. Wood showing heavy scuffs dings and bruising throughout. Rear sight broken. Few cracks to stock, 2-inch one to left side of fore-end, minor wood loss to edges and noticeable wood loss to base of fore-end at the tip. Some marring to screws. Plate mount to hold rear sling swivel at base of stock absent. Action crisp. Bright bore.
