(London and Glasgow: Collins Clear-Type Press, nd), 56 pages, four tipped-in color plates, red cloth with gilt decoration, all edges gilt, 4to (8" x 11"). A handsome edition of the best-known English translation from the original Persian of mathematician and astronomer Omar Khayyám's (1048-1123) poetry. The word rubáiyát is derived from the Arabic root for four and means "quatrains," or verses of four lines. Condition is good, corner damage to the frontis plate, text block is tender.
