Description
Thomas G. Bradford's Map of Texas, 13" x 16.25", (Boston: Weeks, Jordan & Co., 1838). A great early view of an independent Republic of Texas sandwiched between the United States and Mexico. Various land grants are named in East and Central Texas with Stephen F. Austin's spread shown in the center of the map due north of San Antonio de Bexar. Since the Republic of Texas only existed for nine years, such maps are quite scarce. 2" square area of repair at the bottom of the map incorporates a 1/2" of loss in the border. This imperfection does not detract from the map as a whole and should render the piece more affordable to the prospective bidder.Auction Info
