Description

John D. Rockefeller and Henry Flagler Document Signed. Signed: J.D. Rockefeller and HM Flagler, one page, 15.5" x 7.75", New York, May 11, 1886. A fine example with strong, clean signature of each; dated just a year before the courts broke up the Standard Oil monopoly. Signed by Rockefeller as President and Flagler as Secretary, as well as Henry Brewster. Flagler was known independently as one of the great early Florida real estate developers, while Brewster was one of the original incorporators of Standard Oil. It is made out to Charles E. Bushnell, himself an important figure in Standard Oil history. A scarce 100 share certificate, printed in brown, black, and white, rather than the typical green. 100 shares were worth roughly $10,000, a substantial sum in 1886. In very fine condition; usual fold lines present; includes original stub; small cancellation stamp as is typical.
