Description

Don Carlos Buell Autograph Letter Signed "D.C. Buell, Brigadier General." 1 page, 7.75" x 9.75", Head-Quarters Department of the Ohio Letterhead; Louisville, Kentucky, February 17, 1862. Buell was a career soldier, he fought in three major wars; the Mexican-American War, the Seminole War, and the Civil War. He succeeded General Sherman as head of the Department of the Ohio in November of 1861, shortly before this letter was written. The content of the letter is routine; it thanks the Suffolk Literary Institute for an honorary membership that they had bestowed on him.

The letter is in very fine condition; usual folds are present; small stains present on lower right corner. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
