Financier Nicholas Biddle Autograph Letter Signed "N. B.". Two pages, 8" x 9.75", Andalusia, October 22, 1822, to James Worth. In regard to local politics, in part, "...We proceeded very harmoniously by adopting a constitution & naming officers for the coming year. These consist of a President, the Vice President- in each county & four directors also in each county. Mr Jonathan Roberts was elected President..." Andalusia is located in Bucks County just north of Philadelphia and has been, for 200 years, the home of the Biddles, one of Philadelphia's legendary families. Nicholas Biddle was the president of the Bank of the United States from 1822 until 1839, and was one of the most important financial experts of his day. Fine condition; folds, a tiny nick at the top right mentioned only for accuracy; old linen hinge at left edge. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
