Description
Confederate General John C. Breckinridge Carte de Visite. A fine image of John C. Breckinridge (1821-1875) in the uniform of a Confederate general. The stars and wreath of his collar insignia are sharply visible. Breckinridge had a varied political career including a term as vice president of the United States as well as an unsuccessful run for president in 1860. He participated in the Battle of New Market and in 1864 became secretary of war for the Confederacy. The CDV has evidence of glue spots on the reverse, else a fine image.Auction Info
