Description
Mint Condition US M1909 Bolo Knife with the Original Shipping Crate Label Listing the Serial Number of this Exact Knife. The knife is basically as new, retaining 100% of the blue on the cross guard, blade luster, etc. Marked Plumb/ Phila., with flaming bomb, and dated 1917 on the obverse, with US/ 57548 on the reverse. There is no scabbard. The orange 6" x 8" shipping crate label bears the ink date of 2/11/18. Headed "Bolo, Model of 1909/ Marked With The Following Numbers" with the ink serial numbers of the fifty knives that were packed in the crate. Interestingly the lowest number is 41483 and the highest 58140 with no two numbers being sequential. This knife, #57548, is listed in the first column. Label with printed "Springfield Armory" at lower left. Label in fine sound condition with just a few smudges. A great rarity and superb addition to an American military knife collection.Auction Info
