Description

Double Loop Texas Half Skirt Side Holster and Money Belt, Circa 1890. The holster, with a closed toe, is for a 7.½" Colt .44 caliber SAA pistol. The belt measures 33½" at the smallest and up to 37½" at the longest. There is a row of cartridge loops for thirty-six individual .44 caliber rounds. Although unmarked, the holster has scratched on the skirt, "Atilano Avyta/ Jose F. Nolan". This may be Jose Fermin Nolan, born in San Miguel County, New Mexico in 1858. The 3" money belt is marked "Royal 28". The belt, with a clipped corner buckle, shows modest, honest wear. The holster has had some re-stitching, but is attractive and fine.
