Description

Superb Condition M1873 Winchester Carbine. .38-40, 20" barrel, #314588B. The factory letter that accompanies the gun identifies it as having been shipped November 5, 1889 as an octagon barrel rifle. The gun was clearly returned to the factory at a later date for conversion to a carbine and now bears the Winchester smokeless proofs on the barrel and receiver. Retains the crescent buttplate but in all other aspects, with the exception of a saddle ring, is now configured as a standard carbine, including rear sight. Absolutely stunning condition, retaining 90% of the factory bright blue, the balance a smooth pleasing plum brown. Mint bore, mechanically perfect. Oil finished wood about mint with just a few minor storage dents. A gorgeous Winchester in a desirable factory configured format.
