Two pages, 8" x 6", Mississippi, January 11, 1811, addressed to David Holmes replying to a previous letter consenting the submission of the People at St. Francisville of Baton Rouge. Robert Smith (1757-1842) was the sixth United States secretary of state under James Madison and the second U.S. States secretary of the navy. Light Folding. Slight tears by the folds.
