Description
Model 1842 U.S. Percussion Musket. Dated 1849. 42" round barrel in .69 caliber. Lockplate marked "Harpers Ferry 1849" with Eagle over U.S. "VP" and Eagle evident on breach end of barrel. Rifle comes complete with original sling and bayonet. All metal parts finished bright. Functioning action.Condition: Metal surfaces go from a light to medium gray on the barrel to a dark brown on the lock and hammer. One lockplate screw is missing. Heavy pitting at breech end of barrel. Wood is pretty good, even though it has been worked down some in the area of the tang. One cartouche is partially visible.
